Brotherhood Happenings

After a controversial trial, new evidence was uncovered in the case of The Dark Brotherhood -vs- Co-Defendants Cannabisia and Khobai the forced the Justicar to immediately rule in thier favor, delivering a non-guilty plea. The trial sparked many discussions as to the status of the Chamber of Justice.

Meanwhile, the Headmaster showed his usual dedication to the Brotherhood this past week. During the evacuation of the Shadow Academy, Anshar personally taught the Starfighter Studies Course to members of the evacuation team, despite the vessel being fired upon by Vong Invaders.

Rumors are running amock that Dark Voice Tribune Derev Niroth was seen on a gambling yacht during the Vong Invasion. When questioned, the Battlemastered simply commented "What Happens on the yacht, stays on the yacht"

Timeros, Consul of Arcona, was recently acused of selling clan secrets of all six clans of the Brotherhood to the highest bidder. KE Timeros has denied these accusations.

Ricco Vao, the former Fiction Tribune was found guilty of using illegal scientific methods to produce clones of his person, which he then used to gain personal honor in the GJW.

Fleet Wide Transmission

The first battle in our war with the Yuuzhan Vong has ended. Antei is lost, the Autarch burns in ruins, and many of our allies have fallen. We are a defeated Brotherhood, yet we stand as a defiant Brotherhood. The loss of Antei and our antiquated fleet will serve as the decisive blow that has broken our chains to the past. The confined space of the Shroud no longer restricts our ambitions at conquest. The Clone War era Fleet no longer limits our potential. The Dark Brotherhood has entered a new day and that day is now.

As you read this transmission, elements of the new Dark Brotherhood Strike Fleet are arriving at our location. Many of you are wondering where this fleet came from and how it was paid for. The answer to your question can be found in the foresight of Grand Master Firefox. Firefox, understanding that the Brotherhood would one day leave the Imperial Remnant devised an operation code named Tempest Bravo (See further communications herein on Tempest Bravo). This operation was designed to grant the Dark Brotherhood financial independence and to give us the capability to build a modern force of war. Grand Master Firefox’s vision has now become a reality as the first capital ships of this modern force arrive.

The purpose of our new fleet is not merely the reclamation of Antei, but the expansion of our territory. The isolationist policies of the past are in direct conflict with the true nature of the Dark Side. We crave power. Power is found in the domination of others and the conquest of the unknown. As the galaxy tears itself apart defending the core, we will expand into the unknown regions and wild space. There, we will secure the natural resources that will be required to establish a new Empire of Darkness.

Our future efforts will require leaders and warriors with exceptional skill. The recent incursion of the Yuuzhan Vong has once again proven that the finest of our warriors reside in Clan Taldryan. Taldryan’s domination of the five lesser Clans has placed them in a position of great esteem. To honor Taldryan’s continued domination of the Dark Brotherhood, I have granted them the unparalleled right of selecting the first and finest Clan ready warship from the new Dark Brotherhood Strike Fleet.

Despite the continued dominance of Clan Taldryan, the other Clans will also have an opportunity to refit their damaged fleets. This fleet refit will begin within the month and will consist of a total overhaul of all Dark Brotherhood forces. Clans will select their forces based in order of their performance in the last four Vendettas (GJW5, GJW6, RoS, GJW7). Each Clan will find that after the reset their forces will be a much greater threat to strike at our enemies. Supply and procurement officers will be in touch with each Clan Consul shortly.

Each of you has performed admirably in our latest conflict, but the future holds many trials and tribulations. You may return to your Clan systems if they still exist or you may remain with the Dark Council fleet at our current location. We will remain here for thirty six hours prior to departing for our second rendezvous location.

May Darkness Guide you,

Grand Master Sarin

In the time of war, the Dark Brotherhood turns to our greatest leaders and most skilled warriors. The recent incursion of the Yuuzhan Vong has put the Dark Brotherhood to the fire and yet we have persevered. The following warriors and leaders have distinguished themselves above all others and because of this they are to be granted artifacts of power and elevation in status within the Brotherhood.

    Merit Awards

  • Primarch Duga Taldrya Arkarso: Duga Taldrya Arkaso, Consul of Clan Taldryan, has displayed leadership and skill in the face of insurmountable odds. Pinned between the Yuuzhan Vong and jealous lesser Clans, Duga led Clan Taldyra to an unprecedented seventh consecutive victory in a Great War. Calling upon his reserve forces and marshalling the Elders of Taldryan, Duga willed his Clan to strategic victory after strategic victory. Using the ways of Dun Moch, Duga crushed his opponents will to fight and won many battles without firing a shot.

Duga has proven that he is without peer in the ranks of Consuls and his exceptional consecutive record of two Great War victories and one Rite of Supremacy have placed him in esteem that very few Dark Brotherhood members will ever achieve. For Valor on the field of battle, I, Grand Master Sarin, award Primarch Duga Taldrya Arkarso the Diamond Sword.

  • Dark Jedi Master Sith Bloodfyre-Tarentae: Dark Jedi Master Sith Bloodfyre-Tarentae is a Dark Colossus amongst mere children of the Dark Side. Having served almost one full year as Consul of Clan Tarentum, Bloodfyre has led his Clan through battle with decisiveness and élan. His determination, will, and ability to use those around him allowed Clan Tarentum to escape the Great War with the Yuuzhan Vong with the majority of his fleet intact. Bloodfyre’s tactical brilliance and decision making placed his Clan only second to that of the First Clan.

Bloodfyre’s single determination in securing victory for his Clan has placed him on a level that very few Dark Brotherhood members will ever see. It is this singular dedication in improving his Clan that we now honor Bloodfyre. For Valor on the field of battle, I, Grand Master Sarin, award Dark Jedi Master Bloodfyre-Tarentae the Amethyst Kukri.

  • Battlemaster Raken: The Sith Order honors cunning and subterfuge. It is in these arts that we may find our greatest warriors. Unlike many who boast and brag of their prowess, it is the true warriors who operate from the shadows. This is where we find the Praetor to the Grand Master, Raken. Raken has lived in the background quietly watching and recording every action of the Dark Brotherhood. With superb skill and knowledge he has crafted a detailed database on all those who call the Dark Brotherhood home. During the recent Great War with the Yuuzhan Vong, Raken advised and counseled the Grand Master on relations with the Clans and served as a liason. His attention to detail and skill at observation allowed a great portion of the Dark Council fleet to escape Antei unharmed.

Raken’s knowledge, dedication, and skill have placed him above all others who hold the rank of Battlemaster. Raken has established a mark of excellence that will be the standard for all Great Wars to come. For Valor on the field of battle, I, Grand Master Sarin, award Battlemaster Raken the Emerald Dagger.

  • Pontifex Braecen Kaeth Kunar: The Krath Order honors those scholars who seek knowledge and spend their days instructing their followers. It is in these Krath Ranks that we find Pontifex Braecen Kaeth Kunar. Determined to develop his Clan in the finer aspects of the Force, Braecen has set an example for all other Consuls to follow. His dedication to improving the understanding of those around him has paid off as Clan Scholae Palatinae challenged for the right to be called First Clan. Spending time and energy Braecen has reshaped CSP and has modeled the Clan after those Krath sects that succeeded in finding true understanding of the ways of the force.

Braecen’s skill, dedication, and hard work have earned him the right to be known as a scholar and a mentor. His establishment of policies and procedures that have led to a streamlined and efficient Clan serve as an example for all to follow. For his wisdom and knowledge, I, Grand Master Sarin, award Pontifex Braecen Kaeth Kunar the Ruby Scepter.

  • Epis Xia Long: The Dark Brotherhood database and knowledge center is a pivotal part of our operations. This source of knowledge has been updated and improved upon over the past year by the exceptional skill of Krath Epis Xia Long. Xia has streamlined several areas of our database and has made knowledge more accessible and readily available to our members.

When confronted with the pending invasion of the Yuuzhan Vong, Epis Long secured the Dark Brotherhood knowledge base and conducted an immediate transfer to the Grand Master’s Flagship. Her quick thinking and skill saved the Dark Brotherhood from entering a period of information black out and allowed our forces to rally out of the Antei system. For her wisdom and knowledge, I, Grand Master Sarin, award KrathEpis Xia Long the Sapphire Blade.

  • Dark Jedi Master Halcyon Rokir: Dark Jedi Master Halcyon Rokir has led the Dark Brotherhood in combat and weapons training for the length of the Great Jedi War. His skills as Combat Master led to several stunning victories and influenced the Dark Brotherhood’s successful campaigns. In Halc, the DB is fortunate to have a member who is talented and skilled at his profession.

Over the course of the last year Halcyon has served in the Dark Brotherhood in many capacities. He held our roll and maintained the logistical aspects of the Dark Brotherhood as our Master At Arms. He served with dignity and skill as the Deputy Grand Master and provided priceless insight and advice on all aspects of the Dark Brotherhood. He now serves the Dark Brotherhood as the ultimate trainer of our forces and has done an exceptional job. For his skill and dedication, I, Grand Master Sarin, award Dark Jedi Master Halcyon Rokir the Amethyst Kukri.

  • Dark Side Adept Sharad Taldrya Hett: Dark Side Adept Sharad Taldrya Hett has proven himself to be one of the most formidable warriors in the Dark Brotherhood. His prowless on the battlefield, in particular the realm of one on one contact was at the very least phenomenal. Displaying skill and vengeance he toyed with and then dispatched over seventeen individual warriors. Sharad’s efforts in the Great Jedi War led to Clan Taldryan finishing as First Clan yet again. For his skill and dedication, I, Grand Master Sarin, award Dark Side Adept Sharad Taldrya Hett the Sapphire Blade.

  • Dark Jedi Master Alanna Taldrya: Prowess on the Battlefield is often found in the brute strength of warriors; however, a more cunning and disciplined prowess exists in those who have transcended within the Dark Side. One such warrior who has displayed this talent is Dark Jedi Master Alanna Taldrya. Using her skills on the field of battle Alanna placed herself in the highest of esteem. Her efforts on behalf of the Clan Taldryan secured victory for the First Clan yet again. For her skill on the field of battle, I, Grand Master Sarin, award Dark Jedi Master Alanna Taldrya the Sapphire Blade.

  • Dark Prophet Telaris "Mav" Taldrya Cantor: A Dark Prophet is a dangerous and deadly foe. Feared for their power and seconded only to the Grand Masters, the Dark Prophets are the epitome of the Dark Side of the Force. Amongst these Dark Prophets, one stands alone. This Dark Prophet, Telaris "Mav" Taldrya Cantor has once again demonstrated why he is feared and respected across the Dark Brotherhood. Returning from his intense studies of the Dark Side, Mav dominated the GJW with skill and élan. His prowess on the field of battle and skill as a master of Dun Moch intimated his opponents into submission.

It is impossible to derive if Clan Taldryan would have found victory in the GJW if it were not for the efforts of Mav, but one thing is certain. His knowledge and skill were welcome additions to both Clan Taldryan and the Grand Master. Serving as an advisor and combatant, Mav displayed his unique value to the Dark Brotherhood. For his skill and wisdom, I, Grand Master Sarin, award Dark Prophet Telaris “Mav” Taldrya Cantor the Sapphire Blade.

  • Epis RevengeX Palpatine: Krath Epis RevengeX Palpatine has served as a devout son of Palpatine supplying priceless leadership as the QUA of House Acclivis Draco. His dominating performance in the Great Jedi War inspired and motivated his troops and superiors alike. Leading from the front, Revenge was without peer in CSP during the War. For his continued service to the Dark Brotherhood and his Dominating performance in the GJW, I, Grand Master Sarin, award the Sapphire Blade to Epis RevengeX Palpatine.

  • Archpriest Impetus Korin: Archpriest Impetus Korin has served two Houses (HAD & HC), but her faith in CSP has never changed despite serving a multitude of positions. Her commitment and dedication is shown by her valor on the battlefield as she rallies her fellow members to give their best. Waging war against the Clans of the Dark Brotherhood and the Yuuzhan Vong, Impetus placed herself as one of CSP’s finest warriors. For her service and dedication to the Dark Brotherhood and CSP, I, Grand Master Sarin, award the Sapphire Blade to Archpriest Impetus Korin.

  • Prelate Chaosrain Taldrya: Serving as Proconsul of the First Clan is a difficult and demanding task. Fortunately for Clan Taldryan and the Dark Brotherhood as a whole, Chaosrain Taldrya is more than up to the task. Leading by example, Chaos fought valiantly during the GJW. His dedication and effort ensured a 7th consecutive victory for Clan Taldryan and ensured another year of First Clan Status. For his service and leadership to Clan Taldryan and the Dark Brotherhood, I, Grand Master Sarin, award the Sapphire Blade to Prelate Chaosrain Taldrya.

  • Dark Side Adept Shadow Taldrya: Some individuals cannot escape the fact that they are born leaders. These individuals are motivators and often lead through example. One such member that has this quality is Shadow Taldrya. A leader without position, Shadow has dominated the Great Jedi War. His efforts have led Taldrya to a seventh consecutive GJW victory and the title of First Clan once again. Heralded by his Consul, Dark Prophets, and more than one Grand Master, it is easy to see why Shadow is so highly respected. For his leadership and domination of the GJW, I, Grand Master Sarin, award Dark Side Adept Shadow Taldrya the Amethyst Kukri.

    Promotions

  • Pontifex Strategos Thanatos Entar Arconae: Pontifex Strategos has led the forces of Arcona from the front of three consecutive wars. During this time Strategos has proven his willpower and courage, marking him as one of Arcona’s greatest warriors. Leading by example, Strategos has waded in amongst the enemy with the full use of the Dark Side at his command. Slaying countless warriors, he has led by example rather than words and his example is one that all Equites should seek to copy.

Strategos has displayed leadership and dedication to both Arcona and the Dark Brotherhood and he has earned the respect of his peers and subordinates alike. Strategos has passed beyond the knowledge of the Equite Class and has gained the required skill and power to become and Elder. For his skill and prowess on the battlefield, I, Grand Master Sarin, elevate Pontifex Strategos Thanatos Entar Arconae to the rank of Dark Adept.

  • Pontifex Troutrooper Tarentae: Pontifex Troutrooper has distinguished himself as a scholar and trusted advisor to all those who know him. Serving at the will of two Grand Masters, Troutrooper has explored the deep mysteries of arcane and esoteric Force abilities. Troutrooper’s knowledge has led to the foundation that will one day serve as the core of Force powers all Brotherhood members are trained in.

Pontifex Troutrooper has also proven to be one of our greatest warriors. Leading from the front, TT has led Tarentum in four consecutive conflicts. His skill and cunning in war has proved to be an enormous addition to the already venerable forces of Clan Tarentum. TT’s combined knowledge and warrior prowess has surpassed that of the Equite Ranks. For his wisdom in scholarly pursuits and his prowess on the battlefield, I, Grand Master Sarin, elevate Pontifex Troutrooper to the rank of Dark Adept.

  • Battlelord Mononoke "Macron" Keibatsu Sadow: Conflict and Chaos are often excellent environments to judge the true measure of a leader. Two months ago, Macron assumed command of Clan Naga Sadow under such circumstances. In the time since his accession to Consul, Macron has proven his skill and leadership ability. These skills have been placed on display during the last two weeks when Macron rallied CNS to fight to the very death and secure a more prominent position amongst the Clans of the Dark Brotherhood. While other Clans sputtered and faltered, Macron and CNS rose to the challenge and continued to fight the vast power of the Yuuzhan Vong.

Macron has spent a long time developing his skills and honing the power of the Dark Side. His labors have been justified by the unification of his Clan under his banner and the removal of the CNS stigma of being a soft push over. For his expert leadership, I, Grand Master Sarin, elevate Battlelord Mononoke "Macron" Keibatsu Sadow to the rank of Sith Warlord.

  • Battlelord Aabsdu di Plagia Dupar: Aabsdu di Plagia Dupar has displayed the warrior ethos in a manner unequaled amongst the Consuls of the Dark Brotherhood. Leader by words and most importantly deeds, Aabsdu placed himself at the tip of the spear in combating the Yuuzhan Vong. Aabsdu has personified the fighting commander that any subordinate would want to serve under by sacrificing his blood, time, and energy.

Through three consecutive wars and countless skirmishes Aabsdu has displayed the confidence, initiative and skill required to advance. His work in combating the Crimson Empire prior to the War with the Yuuzhan Vong granted him skills that he has put to great use in our on-going conflict and they have granted him the necessary ability to become a Sith Warlord. For his prowess on the battlefield, I, Grand Master Sarin, elevate Sith Battlelord Aabsdu di Plagia Dupar to the rank of Sith Warlord.

  • Battlemaster Kraval Novir: The business of war is not limited to the fighting on the battlefield. Forces must be marshaled, supplies must be provided, and equipment must be transported. The Dark Brotherhood is fortunate to have a Dark Warrior in Battlemaster Kraval Novir, who can accomplish these tasks. Kraval has distinguished himself among the greatest of Master at Arms. His work is a thankless and often unnoticed job, yet we could not function as a war fighting organization without him. In the past six months Kraval has processed thousands of requests and streamlined the procurement process for the entire Dark Brotherhood.

Sith Battlemaster Kraval Novir has also recently assumed secondary duties in combat training and weapon mastery. These skills have only added to Kraval’s value as an integral part of the Dark Brotherhood command staff. Processing requests and training recruits are not the most exciting of missions assigned to members of the Dark Brotherhood, but they are tasks that are essential to our survival. For his dedication and effort at improving the day to day operations of the Dark Brotherhood, I, Grand Master Sarin, elevate Sith Battlemaster Kraval Novir to the rank of Sith Battlelord.

  • Sith Battlemaster Dacien “BubbaX” Victae: Sith Battlemaster Dacien “BubbaX” Victae is a warrior of many talents. Over the last year Dacien has served as QUA, PCON, CON, QUA, LHoJ, and P:HM. He has served in each of these positions with distinction and honor while maintaining a high level of personal activity. Dacien’s most recent accomplishments include computer upgrades and analysis to the Shadow Academy, computer upgrades to the Clan Plagueis computer network, and multiple judicial cases as a Hand of Justice.

Serving in multiple positions over a period of time is not a path to power in the Dark Side, but serving in these positions while accomplishing great amounts of work on behalf of the Dark Brotherhood is. SBM Dacien “BubbaX” Victae is a champion amongst the Equite Class and it is time for him to reach new levels of responsibility. For dedication and superior work, I, Grand Master Sarin, elevate Sith Battlemaster Dacien “BubbaX” Victae to the rank of Sith Warlord.

  • Primarch Sithspawn Taldrya: Primarch Sithspawn Taldrya has gone above and beyond the call of duty in serving Clan Taldryan in the last two years. His efforts have ensured Taldryan victory in two Great Jedi Wars, three Rites of Supremacy, and a House Civil War. His dedication to destroying all those who oppose Taldryan has been equaled by only a few members of the First Clan.

Serving as the leader of House Dinaari, Sithspawn has elevated his outstanding leadership ability and inspired the troops under his command. Using his intellect and wisdom he completed tasks during the war that ensured victory for Clan Taldryan. His leadership has been heralded by the members of his Clan and they have overwhelmingly encouraged his status in the Dark Brotherhood reflect the efforts he has put forth. For his dedication to the Dark Brotherhood and Clan Taldryan, I, Grand Master Sarin, elevate Primarch Sithspawn Taldrya to the rank of Dark Adept.

  • Epis Dark Sabre Taldrya: Epis Dark Sabre has gone too long unrecognized for his long-standing service to his Clan and the Brotherhood as a whole. In these times of open war, there are those among us who will rise above the fallen and achieve in the face of an enemy whose only mercy is death and whose number is legion. These are the Dark Jedi to whom the lesser among us must look and draw from them inspiration to carry my will to the enemy.

Let none among Taldryan or the Brotherhood forget what Dark Sabre has given us over these last weeks of blood. Let no one look upon him and not see that his scars from this war are more fitting a recognition of honor than any award or promotion. And let none among you address him as Epis hence. He has helped to lead Taldryan to victory through his actions in single combat as well as with his trusted advice to his leadership. For his wisdom in scholarly pursuits and his prowess on the battlefield, I, Grand Master Sarin, elevate Dark Sabre to the rank of Pontifex.

  • Dark Jedi Knight Sai Na'Ashar Keibatsu: It is said that Dark Jedi Knight Sai Na’Ashar Keibatsu is one of the most promising members in the Dark Brotherhood. Having served as a Battle Team leader and Rollmaster, Sai ensured the smooth logistical operation of Clan Naga Sadow and helped push CNS forward through the Great Jedi War. This effort and dedication is multiplied when viewed from the perspective that Sai is but a journeymen in the Brotherhood.

Having proven himself above and beyond the status of a journeyman, I, Grand Master Sarin, elevate Dark Jedi Knight Sai Na’Ashar Keibatsu to the rank of Krath Priest.

  • Priest Ashia Kagan Keibatsu: Dedication, selfless sacrifice, honor, duty, and integrity and the terms that not only define Krath Priest Ashia Kagan Keibatsu, but they are the very things that separate her from so many in the Dark Brotherhood. Serving as a leader, friend, advisor, and mentor, Ashia has developed into one of the finest young leaders in the Dark Brotherhood. Her dedication to improving her House, Her Clan, and the Dark Brotherhood as a whole mark her as a future Elder and as a future Dark Council member.

Her efforts in the Great Jedi War motivated and inspired Clan Naga Sadow. Without Ashia, CNS would have had a difficult time maintaining their efforts throughout the war. For her honor and skill as a leader, I, Grand Master Sarin, elevate Priest Ashia Kagan Keibatsu to the rank of Archpriest.

  • Warrior Vardar Fen'Amar Ordo: Warrior Vardar Fen’Amar Ordo performed without equal in the Great Jedi War. Destruction personified, Vardar single handedly destroyed over three hundred opponents in man to man combat. His prowess on the battlefield dominated the five lesser clans of the Dark Brotherhood and all came to fear the wrath of his lightsaber.

Having served as a Warrior for eleven months, Vardar’s knowledge and power have far surpassed his current rank. For his domination of the Great Jedi War and his dedication to the Dark Brotherhood, I, Grand Master Sarin, elevate Warriar Vardar Fen’Amar Ordo to the rank of Sith Battlemaster.

Great Jedi War Aftermath

Sith Battlemaster Raken

He had finished explaining it to them.

That they had come was nearly enough, but he had wanted to see their fear, or its absence, personally. Sarin looked at those seated before him around the elongated oval table. There had been reluctance, but they had come. All the Consuls listed to a degree in their chairs showing the signs of fatigue and injury. This had cost them like nothing before. The Clans had acclimated to internecine conflicts often proving as bloodless as they were pointless. This had been a real fight; the first for many.

And they had lost.

The Yuuzhan Vong, as they had come to be known, had crushed them utterly. The mighty Clans of the Brotherhood had but stained the treads of those who brokered power in its purest form. No negotiations. No compromise. No peace, but that found at the end of a sword. It was enough to make him believe they deserved extinction at the hands of those who had the will to shape the galaxy to their ends.

His own will had been tested many times. Sarin had questioned his reign as Grand Master and whether that time would have been better spent in solitary study of the Dark Side, rather than acting as mediator between those too spoiled to deserve what they had and too lazy to reach for more. He was amazed all of them had survived. But survival was their specialty.

Did they believe they served at the Grand Master’s leave, or were they naïve enough to think he served at theirs?

Perhaps Cotelin was right about it having been a mistake to add them to the Council. But each had arrayed a cadre of loyalists and political constituents too often to which their power was owed. This he would amend in time. He wasn’t entirely without his own supporters. The “now” was what concerned him. He would negotiate their cooperation in the interim by any means necessary. Including the promise of new ships to replace those they had lost to the Vong. How empty that promise would be would depend greatly on their level of cooperation. The real power would remain in his grasp at all times from now until the end of his reign. This was partially demonstrated by the quartet of new, Nebula-class Star Destroyers—state-of-the-art ships heavily modified by Verpine engineers—flanking them now. The vessels hung in space outside the viewports full of quiet menace. Still more waited on station though not fully operational. A show of force for the Consuls, most of whose fleets lay in near ruin. That the Destroyers were manned with skeleton crews would remain guarded until he had siphoned the personnel he needed from the disorganization sure to riddle the Clans for months to come.

Sarin wouldn’t fully tip his hand here at this table. No, here he would placate and countenance until the swelling of their pride abated. He could afford no more Anteis. But his position was not unassailable. He had ships, yes—purchased with billions of credits embezzled from the Hammer and brokered by the Star Chamber—but he needed crews. He needed soldiers. Most of all, he needed their Jedi; that most precious of resources. Droids would only take him so far. The truth on the first day of the war was much the same as on the last.

They needed each other.

This they would see. If not, he would descend without warning from the abyss of hyperspace with his fleet and glass each and every world they called home. They would be in no position to stop him anytime soon. Especially not with the battered relics they quaintly referred to as “warships”. Fear would keep them in line. Fear and the promise of more power: tools as old as the first stone knife, but as complex to wield as the lightsaber.

Things had changed, but the Brotherhood would go on. It had no choice. For the war was not actually over. They would need to quickly adapt their thinking and realize that what had transpired over the last week was not a war, but a battle. And a minor one at that. The war was out there, raging just past the stars he could see twinkling through the transparisteel. To the enemy, this had been nothing but another victory with a few insignificant losses. To Sarin and the Brotherhood, it had nearly ended their way of life.

He had scarcely scratched the surface of the mounting reports coming in from all Brotherhood assets. Ships lost, facilities destroyed, thousands dead, wounded or missing, his own Deputy Grand Master in critical condition; it was staggering. They had literally brought a stun baton to a blaster fight. Sarin still needed time to consider his own encounter with the enemy and apply the lessons learned there. There was more to accomplish now than there had ever been before.

Bloodfyre was the first to speak.

“Lord Sarin, how is Muz?”

This surprised Sarin. Was he that transparent? Did the Shaevalian wish to know out of genuine concern, or was this simply another surreptitious ploy to gauge the Dark Council’s current strength? And what of Muz and his experience onboard the alien vessel? When recovered, Sarin desperately needed to know what else he could tell the Brotherhood about its enemy. As well as the apparent confederate, Volngah, whose whereabouts were unknown. All Muz had managed to convey was that it was the Priest who had helped him escape.

This and more swirled through Sarin’s mind but he responded simply with, “Well.”

He could afford no weakness in front of them.

“How does the rest of the Dark Council fare?” This from the Plagueian. “I don’t see many of them here.”

More probing for weaknesses. Sarin considered shedding their blood here and now, but ever the tactician, said only, “Away. There is much work to be done if we are to survive and one day retake Antei.”

“Retake it?” Macron blurted, forgetting himself. “Why?” The Sadowite saw no reason to risk his forces further and, though he dare not voice it, he felt strongly that the Grand Master’s absence during nearly the entirety of the war had contributed significantly to the loss of the system.

Sarin’s eyes flashed, but he let the insult pass. He had been absent. Were he to have stayed though, even a Grand Master and his flagship would have made little difference to the outcome. Against such a foe, what was needed was time to discover their weaknesses, and ships to exploit them. Now he had both. For a while.

“Let me answer your question with one of my own: Who fears us now, Macron?” Sarin stood meeting the eyes of all assembled. Consuls, Councilors, and confidants alike, none had an answer. “Bloodfyre? Anyone? The answer is no one. No one fears us and rightly so. We are not the threat. Why will Antei be retaken? It will be retaken because if we who call ourselves Dark Jedi cannot hold onto what is ours, then all we hold to are false oaths,” Sarin said, voice modulating unnaturally. “And then our very existence would be a farce. We who so casually liken ourselves to the Sith Lords of old.”

Silence.

“But when we do retake it,” Sarin said, “against an enemy as powerful and ruthless as this, who then can deny our right to deliver the Final Way? Who then would not fear us?” Few met his eyes. “This is a trial, gentlemen. We will face it.”

Sarin sat down again observing them. Some he could read clearly, some with more difficulty. But all understood. He asked, “Are there more concerns then?” He knew there would be none...for now. “Another time then. You will find instructions waiting for you when you return to your ships. Do not fail me, gentlemen.”

They wouldn’t.

Of this, there was no doubt.

Dark Council Unveils New Fleet

Grand Master Sarin

History

Ten years ago the Dark Brotherhood initiated operation Tempest Bravo. Intelligence operatives acting under the direct orders of Grand Master Firefox infiltrated Imperial logistical and financial centers. These agents, often Imperial Admirals, remained black for two years until they were activated hours before the Exodus. Acting under preset orders the infiltrators altered logistical supply routes and redirected financial payments to Dark Brotherhood assets. Within hours the operatives of Tempest Bravo laundered billions of Imperial credits to the Dark Brotherhood and secured our financial independence.

Following the initial successes of Tempest Bravo the program was shut down. The original agents were exfiltrated out of Imperial space and brought to Antei for extensive debriefing. During the debriefings it was determined that follow on operations could be conducted using Imperial defectors. Under the command of Dark Brotherhood Intelligence Tempest Bravo became active once again with Grand Master Cotelin personally serving as the case manager for all future defectors. Within months Grand Master Cotelin secured the defection of countless Imperial Admirals. In each instance these defecting Admirals would redirect assets under their command to the Dark Brotherhood coffers. The Capstone of Tempest Bravo came with the defection of then Sector Admiral Sarin who possessed nearly unlimited access to Imperial Remnant assets. The windfall of this final Tempest Bravo operation was the procurement of operational funds for four full Imperial battle groups.

In 24 ABY, Grand Master Cotelin positioned the Tempest Bravo funds into a Corporate Sector Authority (CSA) shell organization. The Corporate Sector Authority façade provided the means for Lord Cotelin to approach the Kuat Drive Yards (KDY) and begin negotiations for the creation of a new Dark Brotherhood Fleet. Within a month KDY and the falsified CSA organization had reached an arrangement for ten capital class warships to be constructed at the remote Xa Fel facilities.

Technology

In 26 ABY, now Grand Master Sarin secured the technological services of the Verpine. Transferring the recently completed Dark Brotherhood fleet to Roche, Grand Master Sarin ordered a complete technical upgrade to the new fleet. Two of these upgrades are now presented for the Dark Brotherhood. The classification of this material is secret/noforn.

STRADEF: The Verpine Generation two Strategic Defense (STRADEF) computer weapon system enables unparalleled defensive capabilities. This system projects a defensive radar globe around all craft equipped with STRADEF. When a foreign object enters the STRADEF defensive globe the Fleet automatically targets and fires the highest probable solution to destroy the foreign object.

Shadow Academy Report

Dark Jedi Master Anshar

The Shadow Academy continues to undergo its process of constant change. Recently, SBM Dacien “BubbaX” Victae replaced OT Dranik Tarentae as Praetor to the Headmaster. “Dranik had some other things he had to take care of and we both felt that this change was for the best,” said the Headmaster. Also joining the Shadow Academy staff as Eclectic Pedagogues are SW Dismal Visutor (Sith Alchemy) and KP Kara Zor-El (Krath Core). The previous Eclectic Pedagogues have moved onto other things in the Brotherhood.

Also, new courses either have been introduced or will be coming out in the future. A new starfighters course was released to replace the outdated ISET and ESET courses. One member has already received permission to write a history course of the Old Republic and the Headmaster has also put out a call for a volunteer to write a freighter and transport course so that all three primary categories of starships will be covered. “Originally, I intended to cut back on the number of courses, but demand from the membership has told me that we need to offer more than what we currently have,” said the Headmaster.

Finally, in a project started by the new praetor, the Shadow Academy is in the process of developing topic based degrees. No details were forthcoming at this time; however BubbaX did state that the system would be rolled out in phases. “There’s no set date for this, but if members watch the main news announcements, they will be kept up to date on the project’s progress. We are trying our best not to drag it out.”
